Not every day is a good day. However, in Malaysia for me, it is! Yesterday was great. We went for breakfast with my cousins before they went off to A Famosa for the Chinese New Year holidays(its 10 days in Malaysia). Once that was done, we came back home and I read until about 12 pm when we went for some Nasi Padang at a local hawker stall. Then, I was playing on my laptop until 4.30 when I sat down to watch a Hindi movie with English subtitles called Taare Zameen Par. It is a really wonderful movie about a dyslexic kid whom nobody understands until a new art teacher comes into the school and helps him. It is really one of the best movies I have ever watched, English, Tamil or Hindi.

At 7, we went out for a great dinner with my uncle and aunt at a Chinese restaurant. We had superb red and white wine(my uncle says you are supposed to start early!). We came back at 10.30 when I watched some TV until 11.30 when I immediately changed the channel to Star Sports for what I had been waiting for the whole day- the FA Cup tie between Everton and Liverpool. Unluckily, for the second time in the same week, both teams drew 1-1. And so, there is going to be a replay which I am sure Liverpool will win. This is my last post and so, I hope you have found this nice and interesting.

Today was fun. I woke up at about 7.30 in the morning and quickly had a bath and changed. We then left for breakfast at our usual hawker stall for a bit of Roti Canai. We came back at about 9.30 when I started to read until about 12.30 pm when my father brought my brother and I for some Nasi Kandar. It was my first time having Nasi Kandar outside of Penang(a Nasi Kandar haven)and so I was a bit cautious about it. But it was brilliant. It almost matched up to Penang's standard. As we were still a tad hungry and because it was searing hot, we stopped at a little coffee shop for some wonderful Cendol. My father has been going to that same shop since he was 9 and so, we know that the taste was good. That really cooled me down. After that, when we got home at about 2.30, I was lying on the couch watching some TV when I suddenly fell asleep to find out that it was 5.30 in the evening! My cousins then came ver at 6 and we had a really great time. After going to a small restaurant for some Mee Goreng, we dropped off my cousins and headed for home.

At home, I started reading my new book which I bought from New Zealand. It's called View From The Summit by none other than Sir Edmund Hillary. It is really a very interesting read which you cannot put down. Then, at 12 midnight, my brother ( Man United fan), my grandfather ( Tottenham Hotspurs fan) and I ( Liverpool fan but for this game, neutral), sat down and watched the FA Cup match between Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester United which Man United luckily won. After that, We went to KLIA to pick up my mother who had come by flight as she had work on Saturday morning and couldn't come with us.

Malaysia Boleh!

It was Friday. School ended at about 12 noon after the Chinese New Year celebration. I raced home and immediately started eating, changing and packing up some last minute stuff for our regular bi-monthly trip up to my grandparents house in Kuala Lumpur. I, my parents, my brother and my grandmother on my fathers side got in the car and we got on the road at about 2.15 in the afernoon. All of us were expecting the usual standstill 1 and a half hour to 2 hour jam on a Chinese New Year weekend at the Tuas Causeway. However, luckily for us, the jam was only about 45 minutes. As usal, on the Singapore side of the Causeway, only 2 booths were open. I really do not know why on earth they do that wen on the Malaysian side, ever single booth was open. After going a 60 kilometres per hour across the bridge, after the Malaysian Causeway, my father revved it up to his usual 200 kilometres per hour.

After an hour, we stopped at Pagoh for a short break. We carried on to Ayer Keroh for a second break, where, out of a strange flash of kindness, my father allowed me to buy an ice-cream. After passing Segamat and Seremban, after 3 hours, we finally reached my grandparents house where I promptly jumped onto the bed and immediately fell into a Sleeping Beauty-like deep slumber. I will be here for three days and so, I'm expecting the time of my life!

Tuesday 13th January 2009

Today was really brilliant. Once our principal, Mr Low, got on stage, the whole school started clapping and shouting for a half or full day off from school. Oh yeah, my brother got 7 points in his O Levels. That was really great. Finally he started talking. His first point was to thank the teachers and students for putting in so much effort for the O Levels and helping the school reach an average of 10.5 points. He then proceeded to dismiss us at 1.05 and, for good measure, on the 28th of January, he is giving us a full day off! What a thoughtful man!

Once we got back and struggled through Mother Tongue, we got to our favourite part of the day- English. Mr Maran taught us about IQ (intelligence quotient) and EQ(emotional quotient). For example, another famous quote from him. "What is the point of being smart when you behave like monkeys?". I pondered for a while and got to an answer for my question, ' What would I prefer to have? EQ or IQ?'' I chose EQ as EQ is more important. When people look at you, the dont look at your intelligence but at your behaviour and character. I have to tell you this. When he asked us our names and finally got to Prince, once he heard his name, he started laughing hysterically. He said that he had heard of strange names but not Prince. From then on, he started calling him 'royalty'.

After that was Geography. Our teacher was Ms.Ria, who had just came from India. Her favourite job was to shout at us until she felt content. Nonetheless, it went in one ear and came out the other as we knew that our CA1 would be important in gauging how well we would do for the final year exam. We were all geared up by Math as it was the last period and we thought we could go back at 1.05.However, Mr Pang had to hold us back. After school, I went for cricket training where our coach made us run 4.5km! After that, I went home and just practised my bowling. Over and over again.........
Yesterday was, without an iota of doubt, really impressive. I was unwillingly pushed out of my bed by my brother at 7.30 in the morning! Who on earth wakes up at that time?! Anyway, at around 8 am, my mom tells me she has fixed up mother tongue tuition for me at 9. Without even telling me! I ran down, had a slice of bread, changed and just as i had pulled on a t-shirt, my teacher came.I was ripping my hair from my scalp out of complete and utter boredom until 11, when i happily showed my teacher out of the house. I then had a mouthful of lunch, grabbed a shirt from my despicable and messy closet, stuffed some books and my pencil case into a bag and ran off for Science tuition. I came back at about 2.30 and got ready for the highlight of the day- football at The Cage. I play there every Saturday and so, I somehow strain to keep myself awake during all the tuition just so my dad will allow me to go and play. With three captains, we split into three teams, and started at about 4.15, with the winner staying after 10 minutes or whoever scored 2 goals first. I scored 3 brilliant goals in the matches.

Once I came back, I had a brief but calm bath and left for my Uncle's house for dinner. I met my cousins there and it was really fun. But, as all good things must come to an end, on the way home , I caught a fever and started to feel really bad. My mom immediately shoved two Panadols down my throat and it was painful. Very painful.
